Heart Chakra |
The Heart Chakra is associated with the color green or pink. This love center of our human energy system is often the focus in bringing about a healing. Thus, the words "Love Heals All" have great truth. Hurtful situations that can effect our emotional being are divorce or separation, grief through death, emotional abuse, abandonment, adultery. All of these are wounding to the heart chakra. Physical illnesses brought about by heartbreak require that an emotional healing occur along with the physical healing. Learning to love yourself is a powerful first step in securing a healthy fourth chakra. The "wounded child" resides in the heart chakra.

The energies stored in this chakra are that of the heart, lungs, diaphragm and thymus gland. The ribs, breasts, shoulders and arms are a part of the fourth chakra. When we give honest consideration to the conflict that nearly all of us live in regarding the heart center of us, it is no wonder that we have such a host of fourth chakra disease in this country. Diseases like all forms of heart troubles, lung cancer, breast cancer, bronchial pneumonia, asthma and allergy conditions as well as the "stress" pains in our upper backs and shoulders.
We are quite rightly very protective of this vital organ both at a physical and emotionally level. We tend to guard it well, not giving it away lightly or wearing in on our sleeves where it is vulnerable and can be easily damaged. Over zealous protecting of the heart can lead to holding and tension in the chest. Holding back in this area creates a sunken chest and rounded upper back. We literally lock the heart away in the cage of the ribs, so much so that often we ourselves are not aware of it, until unable to be contained any longer and seeking expression, it rises up demanding our attention and threatening our very existence with an 'attack' of heart.
Conversely, someone who is said to be open hearted will have a body that reflects this attitude and the chest will be open and exposed to the world. This is not to say that they will suffer no problems with this organ as a consequence. This is the chakra where our strength, or our liability, is in how well we can, "let go and let God." We tend to accept our emotional challenges as a Divine pathway to growth, or we blame our fate on others and the world. If we ever become able to let go of having to know "why" things happen, we do that with our heart. This is where we learn forgiveness or meter out our sense of self-determined justice.
Love, hope, inspiration, dedication, trust, compassion and forgiveness can be the strengths of our heart. A life of loneliness, fear of commitment, inability to protect ourselves emotionally, emotional weakness and betrayal await us if we give in to the fears of the heart.
This is the center of the energetic system of the body. This is where we learn that love is the Divine power. While intelligence is generally considered to be the power of we humans, it is the emotional energy of the heart that is the true motivate. Divine love in it's purest form, with it's capacity for unending forgiveness and response to prayer is a far stronger force.
